Henderson Glass is proud to be a locally owned and operated family business. This means that unlike the bigger guys we can offer a truly personal yet highly professional service. At Henderson Glass you still get to talk to the owners of the company and deal with us direct. Our long standing in the business offers you peace of mind and shows you we are passionate about what we do.
History
Henderson Glass has its beginnings over 50 years ago. Henderson Glass Supplies Ltd was started in a garage on Swanson Road in Swanson in March 1952 by E. T (Jim) Bedogni. The business was moved the following year to a small shop owned by a Mr Paine on the corner of Mary Street (now Dora Street) and Station Road (now Railside Avenue). Pictured are Jim Bedogni (RHS) and his foreman Keith Hamlin. These premises were soon too small and a move was made initially to Bert Stiles old Plumbers building near the corner of Railside and Great North Road and then to the Collingwood Brothers building on Sturges Road in 1957. The trucks in those days were Commer Flat tops and much of the glass was carried flat.
Jim Bedogni was well known in Henderson in the 1950s and 1960s with many customers amongst the local Dalmatian community. The major group house builders of the day Neil Housing, Davern Homes and Universal were all customers during these early years when all the joinery was wooden.
The business continued to grow and during the early 1960s a branch was opened in New Lynn on Great North Road at the corner of Titirangi Road next to New Lynn Motors. Then in 1966 Henderson Glass moved into brand new premises in Dora Street.
Growth
Present owners Brent and Yvette Meredith purchased Henderson Glass in 2004 after operating Kiwiglass for 16 years. Both these West Auckland companies were amalgamated to bring you Henderson Glass as it is today. Company growth soon meant Henderson Glass needed somewhere bigger to operate from. So in 2007 the company was moved to larger dedicated premises with a factory and showroom on site.
Longevity and Professionalism
Because we’ve been around for so long (in fact we were one of the first glass companies set up in West Auckland) Henderson Glass is proud to be known as an ‘institution’ out West. A fully qualified glazier, Brent is proud to put quality and service above all else. He will be the man taking care of your job with his dedicated team while Yvette will be the friendly face you will see when you pop into our office. Welcome to Henderson Glass where old fashioned service with a smile still exists out West!
Dedication to Excellence
Henderson Glass is proud to be a member of the Windows Association of New Zealand (WANZ) and the Glass Association of New Zealand (GANZ). Both are nationwide organisations that exist to establish standards, which are appropriate to New Zealand conditions. This means you can judge the quality of the goods and services you are being offered. Goods manufactured by members must comply with all the relevant mandatory standards. These Associations also support customers who choose to purchase from members. This offers you a high degree of peace of mind when you choose to use Henderson Glass for your glass needs.
Safety First
At Henderson Glass your safety comes first. That’s why our repair and replacement experts use only the most trusted glass products and the highest quality glass available. We also guarantee workmanship of the highest standards. All of our building glass complies with regulation safety standards and is correctly installed to provide an appropriate level of protection. To assure your safety, Henderson Glass installs high performance glass solutions to the required specifications.
We Go the Extra Mile
Most businesses say they go the extra mile for you but we really do. An example? How about when Brent put on scuba diving gear then swam to the bottom of a pool to check out a glass panel. Now that’s dedicated service!
